Of the weekly shows Commie is subbing, Kuroshit and Campa are the only ones that are not already going to be available translated elsewhere by them time we release them. This gives them higher priority, since if people really want to watch the newest episodes of the other shows asap, they have other places they can find them.
Also, WE ARE FUCKING TRYING TO CATCH UP on Asobi and LoLH, but it’s a bit difficult with a lot of staff members not being around to help out.

That’s pretty much what editors have to deal with in the fansubbing world. The scripts for one episode most likely exceeds 200 lines.
No Asobi coming out makes me a sad panda ;_;

There’s been more than one opportunity where the translator can’t speak english for shit and the rest is left to the editor.

That’s not even half of an episode. You have to prepare yourself for longer scripts in order to be an editor.

I did youre timers test, wished to do editors too, but it’s not my strongest subject, because English is not my primary language.
And Typesetter…still screwing around with Aegissub….I just can’t get this function called “Fade” to work >_<

Editor sounds interesting. Guess I’ll try it out.
I applied for timer! I looked at the editor application too, though its long and I’m tired. And editing takes way more time than timing. I also do karaokes in my spare time, so even if its just that, I’d like to help.
So I just took a look at the editor’s try out script. If you guys make even 1/3 the mistakes that were present in that script, I commend your editors and pity them.
Same here. I took a look at the tryout and was appaled at how full of piss-poor English and riddled with mistakes it was.
If a typical episode script is only a quarter that bad when it comes from your translators, Johnny with his pants full of dicks & Co. have my heartfelt condolences.
It usually depends. Some translators are capable of proper English and you only have to reword when there is another rendition that strikes you as superior, and some translators are so bad you have to rewrite the entire script.
Why is the Timer test so short? You gave half a script to editor, but took a short opening scene from a generally under 200-line series. >_>
Anywho, looking forward to entertaining results.
frankly, they cant really test how long you take to time an episode, what they do test is that you can use aegisub sufficiently to time a portion of script
you yourself can determine how long it would take you to do a full episode from the test (and you will gain speed with practice, which isnt exactly true with editing where speed can result in mistakes slipping through)

I know enough after 5 lines usually.
And edit tests have to be that long to accumulate enough errors and test the thoroughness of the editor.

the editor’s test actually is short. there are bigger scripts around, and this one doesnt look like a complete episode script.
Someone should fix the CSS that makes the commenter’s names black. It’s pretty hard to read on a dark background like this.

Awesome thing about the Editors Applicant test, is that you can tell the difference between English and Engrish. Either way, good luck to those who actually pass the test, if any passed at all. Either way, the test wasn’t hard, but I’m to busy with RL, so never submitted the test since I would fail in commitment, and like aethon, by not going to IRC for almost two weeks and maybe counting.
