The audio mix for this entire episode is abnormal, with BGM and SE overwhelming dialog by a large degree. If you compare the waveform to previous episodes, you can see the problem rather easily.
The Crunchyroll raw of this episode seems to blame, since the AAC audio from MBS TS has a ‘normal’ audio mix with similar characteristics to all previous episodes.
pretty sure it’s been happening the entire time because cr is doing some really fucked up shit. unfortunately, trying to sync the audio from mbs with cr’s video would be a lot of work (also, we didn’t even have easy access to MBS caps at first)
I checked, and the audio previous Golden Time releases don’t seem to have this issue. Hopefully it’s just fluke and Crunchyroll resolves it next week.

Seems you heard correctly. Golden Time episodes 01, 06, and 09 also have a strange mix like 13 does.
