    the show did?

Well.. I guess it’s yay. Wish some better shows got extended though.

most other shows would drag if they were extended. this show, on the other hand, has source material left for over 200 episodes.

I see, didn’t know about that. I would’ve been fine if the show ended after Koushien, whether they make it not.

the manga has like 42 volumes now and is still going. they’re currently at volume 15. so yeah, it could be really, really long.

    SWEET

Honestly, when it was “confirmed” to be 52 episodes, I had a feeling something like this would end up happening. With how much material there was left, it seemed more like they were just planning AT LEAST that many. Great news though, I love this show.

The fact that a series get extended or not doesn’t depend on how much material is left to serialize, it depends on popularity. If this series wasn’t so popular, all of those volumes would never be seen on screen.

A great many shows are incomplete as related to the manga. Living in the age of second seasons, it would be interesting to know how they decide which shows can be extended like this. While not everything is at 42 volumes, an extension from 12-13 episodes for a good series that has more interesting source material might be worth influencing.

no shows are extended like this, because it only happens to these long running shows. regular anime operate entirely differently. they all have a set budget and a set number of episodes before a single one is even made and they stick to that. then they see if the BDs sell enough to make another season.
