Thanks for the episode ! but is it reaaaaaly necessary to translate the sfx ?

  2. Shawn263241 says:

    What the…

Anyways, thanks for finally getting this out. I really appreciate it, bros.

I trust Nanu was given a stern wag of the finger?

  3. nevius6251 says:

Hate to be that guy, but what about Pillarmen’s names? Wouldn’t it be better to go with romaji, like Esidisi and Wamuu?
I know they’re musical references, but I bet it would feel more fluid with romaji, especially in ACDC’s case (which is probably the only one really bugging me off).

  4. Kiwi says:

Thanks a bunch you guys! You’re always worth the wait. Also, I really like JoJoYuri episode 2. That one is fuckin’ hilarious.

  5. anonymous says:

Is that a dude on the left side of the gif? lol The one with the skirt had to be a dude.

    • interrupt says:

All guys. It’s a Ukrainian pop/dance group. The video the gif came from is them performing at a fashion show, and after they go and the models come on, the models all look pathetic compared to them lol

  6. Leesan says:

Coda’s bloody stream would fit that gif. And dat Jojo Yuri was too frigging funny. Completely lost it.

  7. Kiwi says:

Oh just a little translation note for you guys, it’s actually the “Red Stone of Aja” in reference to a the Steely Dan album of the same name.

  8. Apa says:

Just slight translation errors in the first few lines, Joseph should be saying something like “This hotel expects me to eat spaghetti with ink on it?” And the dialogue would flow better if the waiter said “It’s quite piquant”. Just minor things really, sorry to nitpick.

  9. ★Ro~ says:

What’s the name of that Ukrainian pop/dance group?

  10. Carlitos says:

    Donde están mis submarinos

  11. Zeyami says:

Thanks guys for all your hard work. In the past you’ve been pretty hit or miss, but you’ve got JoJo down to a science and I sincerely appreciate your effort!

  12. N013 says:

I know that the translations are done by fans, and are done for free. So I can understand delays. I will not turn to another subbing group as commie has truly done a masterful job so far on jojo. But the current waiting times are killing me. So here is what I suggest.

If your group can keep this level of quality, AND do it within the week of the episode’s initial release I will donate to your site, PER EPISODE on a sliding scale based off of release speed.
    At…lets say, a minimum of $5 (at 6 days)
and a max of $20 (if kept under 2 days).
I will do so as long as there is no loss to quality in translations, typesetting, or any other elements of quality and style we have seen and loved so far. that would be $20-$80 off your $200 monthly donation goal.
If they can be released in less than two days after their initial air date 4 times in a row I will add an extra $20 to make it an even $100 a month. paying for half your set donations.

This is a quick proposition, feel free to reject it, or we can hammer out the details later. I’m a little to drunk to set a better plan, but I’m sure this can be done by your capable, yet free working staff.

Please let me know what you think, and no matter what you say. thank you for your time and work that you put into these projects.

    • N013 says:

As a sign of good faith, no matter the decision you come to, I have offered a small donation of $5, and hope to give larger amounts of money to your group in the future.

    • Orcus says:

You want us to sub faster and keep the same quality?
Are you aware that JoJo has a fuckton of signs, or are you just a retard with a shitton of money?
If it’s the latter, you could star in a future Batman film.

    • Xythar says:

JoJo is a good ~20 man-hours of work each week across all roles, so that basically amounts to around $1 an hour. We could probably do better in a Chinese sweatshop, to be honest.

We do appreciate the donations, but unfortunately they’re not quite enough for us to quit our jobs and fansub 24/7, as much as I’d personally like to.

Anyway, the current delays are because the translator has stuff to sort out IRL, and I would hazard a guess that there’s more at stake to him right now than $20 a week.

    • Kyhz says:

While we appreciate the sentiment, we’re really not doing this for the money. Sometimes, delays are caused because no one gives two fucks about a show and it just sits there. I can assure you however this is not the case with JoJo since everyone working on it loves it. The translator is currently busy with real life, and well, there’s not much we can do about that. Other people who could substitute him are either equally busy or unwilling.
Offering us “payment” is not going to make us release any faster, since a) the current situation is outside of our control, and b) scripts get released only when they’ve reached a quality we’re content with anyway.
If you have that kind of money to blow, go buy the BDs and support the show.

  13. n013 says:

At the time, my (half thought out) plan wasn’t to ’employ you to drop everything’ it was encouragement to the other members of the community to perhaps assist on commie’s Jojo project. I was unaware that the man working on this show was currently occupied with other priority commitments in his life (now that I am reading other comments on this page I see that it was mentioned, I should not have skipped over them last night), I wish him the best of luck in those matters, not just for the sake of the show, but for him as an individual as well.
As for the encouraged donation rate I suggested, while admittedly more drunk at the time than when I do most business, I had the payments lower than what I found reasonable, in order to offset potential negotiations. I in no way meant to insult any of your fine staff with the pitiful amounts.
I do of course intend to buy the BD sets when they are all out for this season. But for the meantime I was willing to spread my love of the franchise to your coffers as well. I see now that these actions were not needed.
To further stress my apology I will supply an additional $10 to your server upkeep donation box, and intent to give other such pittance in the future.

Please keep up the good work, in not just jojo, but all current and future projects. Thank you for working hard to spread such an interesting culture. and have a good day.

    • herkz says:

I think you would have to pay a lot more than $20 per episode to get one of our other translators who isn’t watching the show to do it. (For the record, CR pays at least $100/episode I think)

      • Kyhz says:

I think the point is that we’re not working for money.

        • herkz says:

I sure would. But $20 an episode for JoJo is more of an insult.

          • N013 says:

I apologize once again for any insult that my greatly rounded down (and drunken) proposition may have caused. I will state once more it was intended more as a ‘communal motivation’ idea then a contracted ’employment’, if you will, and was merely a roughly thought out concept, and nothing else.

the concept of paying [blank]_dollars for encouragement to assist in a translation project is indeed solid, and would be generous if the amounts offered were different, and if the community was interested in profit for maintenance (or at least look at money more like a score board and less like a currency). At the time my shattered logic expected some fun old fashion haggling, as this is what I do normally from time to time, I forgot my target audience, and I as well set a far lower standard then deserved, considering the work involved (this is why I let other people manage the tip at restaurants when I get drunk).

After understanding the above statement(s,) to remain insulted, is like to be insulted by an autistic for crapping himself in front of you. One must understand that he was doing what comes naturally, just in the wrong place, the wrong time, and done in a sloppy and poorly though-out manner, I can only hope that you see the humor in this blunder and move past it.
