I hate it that nowadays we have 12 episode animes. Sure they will release a new Oda Nobuna season but 12 episodes in a raw is too small for a season :(
12 or 13 episode shows are fine usually fewer episodes means a tighter show with less filler. What pisses me off though is having to wait 6mnths-1year for the rest of the show. Which seems to be becoming the norm more and more nowadays.
You must be new to this whole “anime” thing if you think 12-episode seasons have only just recently become common. I remember saying things similar to you back in 2005 when it seemed to me like 13-episode series were crowding out the 26-episode series of old. The last seven years’ worth of new material combined with taking a closer look at the previous 20 years’ catalogue made it clear to me that the whole “26 episodes is a standard season, 52 two seasons, and 13 episodes a half-season” myth amongst Western anime fans is exactly that: a myth.
