instead of trying to do it on the fly as it’s discussed in the anime, i decided to sit down and actually work out the start of all the poems so they roughly match how the japanese is in terms of unique syllables. it’s not perfect, but it should be good enough to handle any situation that shows up later. it does mean i have to v2 every episode released so far for the batch, but it’s probably still better this way.
